The pie-charts for male-female population, child and elderly dependency, and women-child ratios of Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City, Bara District is based on 2011 population census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) Nepal. As of 2011, Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City had total population of 123,659 with male 63,648 (51.47%) and female 59,376 (48.02%). Total independent population (male and female between 15 to 65 years of age) were 68,916 (55.73%) while dependent children (below 15 years of age) were 49,374 (39.93%) and elderls (65 years and above) were 4,734 (3.83%). As illustrated in the Chart, total dependent population includes both the children and elderly people who were 54,108 (43.76%). With respect to women and children ratio, total women between age of 15 to 49 years (statistically considered as women of child bearing age) were total 28,383 while children below 5 years of age were 14,420, which is equivalent to 508 children per 1,000 women. This women-child ratio is also considered as fertility ratio when specific fertility related data is not available.
