The government has further tightened the southern border points of the country to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection with people infiltrating through the porous border.
Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa shared that additional teams of Armed Police Force have been deputed to also keep a check on pathways from where people might enter Nepal from India.
Spokesperson at the Armed Police Force, Nepal, Praveen Kumar Shrestha, said that a Border Observation Post has been established in every two kilometers of the border in the south. Earlier, BOP was established in every 16 to 17 kilometers.
He said APF teams have started to work from Tuesday. Inspector General Shailendra Khanal in a video conference directed all battalion chiefs to ensure security at the border points.
Likewise, Home Minister Thapa said that responsibility to further tighten the border security has been given to APF with a focus on the southern border.
