The Home Ministry has today launched a website in a bid to disseminate latest information about coronavirus. Named ‘COVID-19 integrated information system and quarantine monitoring system’, it is developed by an organisation named ‘Aafno Nepal’ with technical and financial assistances from Smart Telecom and Pro AMAR International and provided to the government for free.
To get information related to the COVID-19, one is required to log in covid19.ndrrma.gov.np set up by the National Disaster Risks Reduction and Management Authority under the ministry. Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa announced the information system by logging in the website on an occasion today.
According to data on the website, so far eight infected people are receiving treatment. One infected returned home after being cured. Likewise, 8,166 people have been quarantined and 131 are kept in isolation.
On the occasion, Minister Thapa expressed the hope that the information system would help fight the infection.
The website which keeps all information relating to the virus across 77 districts through the national emergency operation centre is updated from time to time, said the Authority’s chief executive officer Anil Pokharel.
The Ministry has also launched an app named Cobuddy to monitor quarantined people. Mobility of quarantined people is monitored through the app, said Pokharel, adding that the app has come into operation from today in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Baglung, Kanchanpur and Kailali districts.
