Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has claimed the situation of peace and security and good governance was improved in the country.

In his address to a state-level security seminar jointly organised by the Home Ministry and Gandaki State Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law in Pokhara today, he said it was not a government assertion but the finding of international organisations as well.

"The government is preparing to unveil Nepal’s political map incorporating Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulek as its territory and secretary-level discussions and diplomatic efforts were going to reclaim Nepal’s encroached territory from India. Technical works for printing the country’s latest map have been concluded and we will make it public soon. We continue diplomatic lobbying to get back our land," he reminded.

The number of border security check post has reached 104 from 87 and the government targets to increase it to over 200 in the current fiscal year, according to the Minister, "We aim to increase the number of such posts in the north as well."

He went on to say that the government had taken the current fiscal year as a foundation year for treatment and the nation would find a pace of development as required by policy-level and legal provisions had been ensured. Thapa added it was obvious the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Secretariat decision to nominate party Vice Chair Bamdev Gautam to the National Assembly triggered discussion in the party but there remained no debate on the matter. The decision would be implemented by the Council of Ministers.

The two-day seminar attended by state government representatives and representatives from three security mechanisms: Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army will conclude this evening.
