Raskot municipality of remote Kalikot district in Karnali State has launched a campaign to ensure tap to every household. There are 3,300 households in the municipality.
The campaign is launched with the cooperation of UNICEF. The municipality would cost 60 percent while the UNICEF 40 percent. Under the first phase, the households at ward no 2, 6 and 9 would be provided the drinking water taps, said deputy mayor Mimsara Shahi Bam. "We’ve planned to ensure every household’s access to pure drinking water via taps, and the first phase was under implementation in three wards," she added.
There are 45 households at ward no 2, 81 households at ward no 6 and 185 households at ward no 11.
Municipality mayor Kashichandra Baral informed that the campaign was intensified to guarantee the tap within next fiscal year. The activity was carried out in collaboration so that people and community would take ownership of the development, he argued.
