President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that the role of the federal and state governments was essential for enhancing the younger generation’s awareness about patriotism and the democratic system. She was speaking after unveiling the life-size statue of different political leaders at the Democratic Park in the Martyrs Memorial premises in Nawalpur, Hetauda-11 today.
The statutes of late leaders Bisweswar Prasad Koirala, Ganesh Man Singh, Pushpa Lal and Man Mohan Adhikari have been installed inside the park.
Emphasizing on the need to educate the youth about the love for the nation, martyr’s contribution, republic and democracy, President Bhandari called for greater attention to human rights promotion, development infrastructure and social justice to take the people towards the path of prosperity.
At the same function, President Bhandari also unveiled the silver jubilee pillar at the entrance gate of the memorial and offered bouquet at the statute of late leader Madan Bhandari.
Speaking at the function, Bagmati State Chief Minister Dormani Poudel shared that the State government had been working on 13 projects of national prize in the State including the Hetauda-Kathmandu tunnel way, Kathmandu-Nijgadh expressway and Hetauda-Kulekhani-Kathmandu Madan Bhandari highway.
The new statues in the park were built and installed at the total cost of Rs. 10.5 million with support from the Urban Development Ministry and Martyrs Memorial Development Committee, according to Vice-chair of the Committee Rameshwar Rana.
