Drinking water project worth 150 million begins

The implementation of a drinking water project worth Rs 150 million has begun at Mahuliya of Bhimduttanagar municipality-2 in Kanchanpur.

The project launched under the ‘one house, one water tap’ programme is expected to be completed within the current fiscal year, said ward chair Dambar Bahadur Karki.

Under the project, works have begun to construct a water tank with the capacity of storing 450,000 liters of water.

The installation of 1,150 meters of water pipe has been already completed. The project aims to ensure the pure water supply to the ward people, it is said.

A total of 1,600 ward inhabitants who are compelled to use unsafe water will be benefitted once the project gets completed.

Such water drawn with the help of hand pumps has the issue of arsenic and iron contamination and thus not safe for drinking.
