Trend to look towards centre has ended, DPM says

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwar Pokhrel has voiced for ending the trend of seeking helps from the federal government for everything needed in the local government.

At a programme organized to announce ‘child-friendly rural municipality’ to Manahari of Makawanpur on Monday, he said that the three layers of governments can deliver services on their own based on the rights ensured by the Constitution of Nepal adding that this has ended the trend of looking for the centre while doing something in the changed context.

Pokhrel also praised the initiative of the rural municipality calling it a historic and suggested other local levels to learn from this.

Likewise, Chief of Bagmati State Dormani Poudel said that every citizen has the duty to ensure reform in the society. He also announced to end child marriage in the state by 2078 and make the state child-friendly by 2080.

Chairman of the rural municipality, Yekraj Upreti, said that the announcement was made by approving 39 indicators from monitoring of the district coordination committee.
