The Nepal Democratic Lawyers Association (DLA) has demanded that the government ensure smooth supply of daily consumable goods, identify the genuine needy ones and distribute relief accordingly. It has also urged the government to take action against the black marketers taking advantage of the enforcement of lockdown.
Issuing a press release today, DLA accorded due respect to the health workers, security personnel and media workers who are performing their jobs in field with high confidence despite limited resources and means. The Association has also called for increasing personal security, insurance and incentives for them.
It has also demanded that the government immediately ensure repatriation of Nepalis stranded along the Nepal-India border and make arrangement for their health and security. The DLA urged the security personnel deputed in field to suppress the spread of COVID-19 pandemic to show decent treatment and instead punish the private hospitals not following their professional duties, stated the release issued by DLA general-secretary Laxmi Devi Dahal.
The DLA has recommended the government to get the jail birds and detainees maintain physical distance, manage conditional and unconditional release, place virus testing measures targeting suspects by reaching to their doorsteps and meet basic criteria in quarantine and isolation facilities.
Meanwhile, the DLA has demanded that the government immediately implement the verdict of the Supreme Court issued on April 6 and 7 in regard to the recent situation.
