Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ramchandra Poudel has stated that expansion of agriculture sector was the best alternative to salvage the economy hit hard by COVID-19.
Interacting with the experts through social networking sites here today, leader Poudel argued development of agriculture sector could only lift the economy because other major sectors as energy and tourism were badly affected due to pandemic. According to him, expansion of agriculture would replace the import and remittance, thereby propping up the economy.
Pressing for promotion of agriculture education, researches and expansion of agriculture activities and market in the country, senior leader Poudel underlined the need to end the middlemen’s interference in the agriculture market.
He was of the view that setting up a Land Bank was the need of the hour to utilize the land that is left unused. He also asserted that the farmers should not be barred from taking their agricultural products to the market at the time of lockdown.
