‘No decision taken allowing people to leave Kathmandu ‘

No decision has been taken to allow people to leave the Kathmandu Valley for their hometowns on April 10 and 11, according the High Level Coordination Committee for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19.

News reports about the matter are baseless, according to a statement issued by the Committee’s coordinator Ishwor Pokharel. "How could such a decision be taken in such serious situation?"

Such baseless reports in media or on social sites have drawn the serious attention of the Committee and lockdown would continue in view of serious necessity to save the country from this infection, said the statement.

"We all have heard Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli raising this issue during his address to the nation. Not only government, all Nepalis should acknowledge it."

Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has dismissed reports about allowing people to leave the Valley for their destinations amid lockdown.

No decision has been taken in this regard, read a statement issued by the Ministry on Thursday.
