Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has called for boosting up confidence of health workers involved in lab testing and treating COVID-19 patients by equipping them with necessary health appliances and protective gear. Issuing a press release today, NBA’s general-secretary Leelamani Poudel urged the government to make arrangement for carrying out tests and treatment in all district hospitals by adding testing kits and human resource.
The umbrella organization of legal practitioners across the country also urged the government to equip the security personnel, ambulance and mortuary van drivers with protective equipment along with arrangement of additional incentives for them.
The NBA demanded that the government caution security personnel towards respecting human rights of the people who are coming out from home due to essential work. It also called for the government to effectively put in place one-door system to distribute quality relief packages to poor and indigent sections.
Noting that the court service also needs to be reduced for the time being, the association drew attention of the apex court to deliver its service safely and smoothly. NBA has also urged interested legal practitioners to deposit their assistances after setting up of a disaster relief fund. It has also requested its concerned chapter to assist the legal practitioners facing trouble in sustaining daily livelihood and other needs due to enforcement of prolonged lockdown.
