Nepali Congress leader and lawmaker Dilendra Prasad Badu has demanded the government to ensure special arrangement for the Nepalis stranded at border.
Following the lockdown in both Nepal and India to contain the coronavirus, a large number of Nepalis has been stranded at border. He drew the government’s attention that hundreds of Nepali workers returning home from various cities of India are desperately waiting for safety with food and shelter. Most of them are from Darchula, Baitadi, Bajhang, Bajura, Doti and Achham districts, he added.
He further said as those stranded at Dharchula border point were currently provided protection at temporary camps by the local administration of India, risk of coronavirus could not be denied as they were kept in group. Even the number of those risking life by swimming across the Mahakali River is growing, leader Badu reminded.
Leader Badu suggested Darchula District Administration that it made coordination with the local levels, allowed entry to the Nepalis and kept in quarantine thereafter. Even the healthworkers must be equipped with safety accessories, he demanded.
