Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has again drawn the government’s attention towards economic impact on multiple classes and sectors caused by the lockdown against the coronavirus, urging the government to take immediate steps towards that end.
”Daily wage earners have been hardest hit by the lockdown,” he said urging the government to announce a special relief package targetting such community. Besides, he has sought a relief for employees with minimum income, workers, unemployed and students staying in rents in the Kathmandu Valley.
He appealed to one and all to strictly follow the lockdown implemented by the government as a preventive measure against the disease and stay home to be safe from the possible infection. However, he expressed his concern over the probability of a long-term impact on nation’s economy due to the lockdown. He also urged the government to ensure protective gears for medical persons and health workers, coronavirus test kits, enough isolation beds, quarantine centers and ventilators to fight against the disease.
