Kathmandu valley to have quarantines of 5000 beds

Considering possible outbreak of COVID-19, the government has planned to immediately develop the public quarantine of at least 5000 beds in the capital city.

The first meeting of the Quarantine Site Development and Management Taskforce held on Sunday decided to get jointly mobilize all bodies concerned for the quarantine development and prepare the quarantines even to transform them into temporary hospital in case of requirements.

Places like hotels, schools and stadiums would be used as the quarantines, the meeting presided over by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai decided.

As decided at the meeting, guidelines would be drafted for the operation of public quarantines. The draft of the guidelines would be submitted at a meeting on Monday with the representatives of Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Home, Ministry of Urban Development and all four security bodies.

Likewise, Nepal Tourism Board and Department of Tourism shall submit a detailed proposal at the meeting tomorrow by finalizing the names of appropriate hotels and their sites for the development of quarantines for at least 2,000 people.
