Isolation wards in hospitals; returnees from India under vigilance

The Sudurpaschim government has set up ‘isolation wards’ in all state and district hospitals, especially targeting COVID-19 suspects.

Public Information Officer at the Ministry of Social Development Hemraj Khadka shared that the wards were equipped with necessary arrangement of health workers.

"Isolation ward with two beds has been set up at each hospital for providing treatment service to corona suspects", he informed.

Ambulance service has also been kept standby nearby health desk in the border area, Khadka further shared.

Isolation wards have been placed at district hospitals including Mahakali hospital of Kanchanpur and Seti hospital of Kailali. Ambulance service is being made available at Trinagar of Kailali and Gaddachauki border checkpoint of Kanchanpur.

Khadka went on saying, "Though isolation wards have been equipped with health workers, we have approached the supply section for necessary medicines and equipments".

An arrangement has been made to collect cough, swab and blood samples of suspects and send the samples to laboratories at state and district hospitals as well as national lab, Khadka said.

According to him, health desks have been set up in different 12 areas of the state.

Patients especially coming from India have been kept under surveillance at health desks set up along the border area. Public awareness has also been intensified to keep general people informed and sensitized about coronavirus.

Officer at Health Office Kanchanpur Kapildev Joshi said the returnees from virus affected zone have also been targeted to sensitize them about measures to be adopted during 14 days following return to their homes.

"With the rise in the score of corona suspects in India, we have also increased vigilance on the returnees from southern neighbour", he said.

It may be noted that no corona suspect patient has been so far found in Sudurpaschim state.
