The indigenous Kumal community members have expressed the commitment to work together to preserve and protect their near-extinct language, art, culture and traditional skills. Speaking at the fourth district convention of Nepal Kumal Samaj Sudhar Samiti, Palpa here on Saturday, they also pointed out the need for support of the State in this regard.
On the occasion, central member of the Committee Sabitra Kumal said the community members should join hands in claiming and protecting their rights, and preserving their indigenous culture.
Rampur municipality, ward no. 6 chairperson Lok Maya Kumal said the new generation of Kumal is losing hold of the traditional skills of their community, including the pottery skills.
Kumal community members are found living in Rampur municipality, Bagnaskali, Rainadevi Chahara, Mathagadi, Ribdikot rural municipalities and Tansen municipality.
