Minister for Home Affairs, Ram Bahadur Thapa, has said the state should award personalities who have made substantial contribution to the nation.
At an interaction on the draft bill related to amendment and integration of Award and Coronation Act organised by Nepal Law Commission here Wednesday, Minister Thapa reminded the incidents of rejecting the awards and coronation by some persons who had truly contributed to the nation. It might be because of the delayed recognition to them, he argued.
On the occasion, he said, "We have forwarded the bill thinking the real personalities contributing to the nation should be honoured by the state. The bill is going to be brought as the act related to coronation has to be amended. We want appropriate respect of the award and coronation as well."
Home Minister Thapa expressed the view that organisations working for their notable contribution in different sectors of the nations could also be awarded. He also opined that the law should clearly mention what could be done in case of those rejecting the coronation.
