Rabindra Adhikari to be remembered

Coming February 27 or Fagun 15 in the Nepali calendar is the first death anniversary of the then Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari. In this context, the Rabindra Adhikari Memorial Foundation has scheduled several events to mark the one year since the death of the Communist leader.

The Foundation shared information about this at a press meet in Pokhara today. Earlier on February 22, a programme was organised to pay tributes to the late leader.

Besides, an essay writing competition on the topic of ‘Nepali politics, youth and Rabindra Adhikari’ has been already organised in commemoration of the late Adhikari. Bachelor and Master’s degree students across from the country had participated in the writing.

The winners’ name will be announced and the prize distribution ceremony will take place same day (February 27).

Similarly, a programme to unveil a life-size statue of the late leader at Pokhara’s Bibhuti and Sahid Park has been scheduled for the same day. Distinguished personalities including the Prime Minister will be addressing on the occasion.

Bidya Bhattarai, the House of Representatives (HoR) from the Kaski-2, spouse of the late Adhikari and Foundation Chair Bhattarai said they were commemorating the ‘sad day’ by transforming sorrow into strength.

The Foundation was established as a non-profiting organisation on June 1, 2019 in commemoration of the late Adhikari.
