Chief of Gandaki State Amik Sherchan has said that corruption was the main reason behind slow progress of the country and perennial poverty.
At a programme organised by the provincial office of the Commission of the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on its 29th anniversary in Pokhara on Tuesday, the State Chief said that those with corrupt deeds should be brought to book through a fair probe.
Likewise, chief secretary of the Gandaki State Hari Prasad Basyal said that the government, political and private sector should support in the corruption control activities through information dissemination.
On the occasion, former chair of Transparency International Nepal chapter Ananda Raj Mulmi stated that prosperity could not be achieved without maintaining good governance and added that ‘conflict of interest’ in the decision-making level has promoted corruption related activities.
