State govt committed to journalists’ rights: Minister Jamakattel

Bagmati State Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Shalikram Jamakattel, has said Bagmati State was committed to ensuring rights, safety and incentives to the journalists and media houses in the State.

At the condolence gathering on the demise of chair of the Film Development Board late Keshab Bhattarai, and the interaction on ‘journalists’ role on promotion of film in mofussil’ here today, Minister Jamakattel said a proposal on establishment of journalists’ welfare fund was being taken to the Cabinet. "State government immediately provides financial grants to the media persons facing serious illness and female journalists with new born," he added.

According to him, the State government was planning to broaden the section of East-West Highway in the State in view of the increased traffic movement in the State capital.

Meanwhile, a nine-member Makwanpur chapter of film journalists’ association has been formed under the chairmanship of Maniraj Gautam today.
