KC wins title of first ‘space oratory’ contest

Saugat KC, the 12th grader at the SOS Hermann Gmeiner Secondary School, Pokhara has won the title of ‘space oratory’ competition held for the first time in Nepal.

The online competition entitled "Moon: Gateway to the Stars", targeting the secondary level students, was organised on the occasion of the seventh National Science Day.

According to Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO), the organiser, there was an encouraging participation in the competition.

Similarly, Smarika Neupane, the 10th grader at the New Horizon English Boarding School, Butwal won the second position and Birchanda Kamati, the 11th grader at the Dhanusha Campus, Janakpur secured the third place, Society chair Suresh Bhattarai said.

The online videos were called for the contest and the winners were selected on the basis of voters’ choice and the decision of jury (50-50 percent). The winner will get a cash prize of Rs 10,000 followed by Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 for the second and third positions respectively. All the prizes will be given on the 13th NASO Day which falls on coming August 25.
