Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Padma Kumari Aryal on Sunday assured efforts to resolve problems of landless squatters and unmanaged settlements as she said the making of laws related to the issues has been completed.
"The eighth amendment to the Land Act provisions that an individual lacking ownership of any land shall get a plot of land for free from the government. And, individuals using a public land for long will be provided with proper accommodation after charging a certain amount of taxes based on their financial status," said the minister at a press conference organised here by the Press Organisation Nepal, Dhangadhi chapter.
Stating that there has been a delay in rehabilitating freed Haliya (agricultural bonded labourer) of Sudurpachhim State due to a hold-up in carrying out a fiscal transfer, Minister Aryal pledged initiatives in this regard after timely completing fiscal transfer.
