Construction of the 108 feet high World Peace Kalash or traditional Nepali water jar is underway in Sarbasiddidham Panchakot of ward no. 6 of Baglung municipality. The work had stalled for various reasons.
The foundation for the Kalash had been laid by then Prime Minister Sushil Koirala five years ago in 2071 B.S. The work resumed on Saturday with a Bhumi Pujan or worshipping of the soil.
The Kalash is being constructed with the use of copper and iron and is estimated to cost Rs. 320 million, according to Chair of the Panchakot Development Committee Rishi Prapannacharya. Sunlight Construction Company, Kathmandu has been awarded the contract for the same.
Various other structures are also being constructed in the premises that spreads over an area around of around 100 Ropani. Another attraction in the premises will be a 5,555 kg bell.
