In 2017 election of Yamunamai Rural Municipality (Rautahat district), candidate Shree Prasad Mukhiya Bin of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,179 (28.78%) votes out of total votes of 7,572 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Mahmad Saud of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) who secured 1,532 (15.71%) of votes. The rest of 12 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 3,861 (25.50) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Geeta Devi Shah of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,514 (35.18%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Sadrun Nesa of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,432 (14.82%) of votes and came in second position. Other 7 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 3,201 (22.39) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 189 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 118 (62.43%) males and 71 (37.57%) females. Moreover, there were total 40 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 65 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 31 females and 30 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
