In 2017 election of Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality (Udayapur district), candidate Man Bahadur Kepchaki Magar of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,425 (47.36%) votes out of total votes of 9,343 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Jit Bahadur Khadka of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,981 (21.65%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,937 (10.37) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sanu Kumari Raut of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,043 (43.83%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Bima Kumari Rai of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,055 (23.03%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,127 (11.53) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 137 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 80 (58.39%) males and 57 (41.61%) females. Moreover, there were total 27 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 50 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 25 females and 25 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
