In 2017 election of Tripurasundari Rural Municipality (Sindhupalchok district), candidate Bhupendra Shrestha of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,905 (37.26%) votes out of total votes of 7,797 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Bhakta Dhwoj Bohara of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,707 (25.29%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,185 (14.01) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Durga Devi Nepal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,849 (37.21%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Padam Kumari Shrestha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,675 (25.46%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,133 (13.93) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 130 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 76 (58.46%) males and 54 (41.54%) females. Moreover, there were total 26 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 47 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 24 females and 24 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
