In 2017 election of Tinau Rural Municipality (Palpa district), candidate Om Bahadur Gharti Magar of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,810 (35.07%) votes out of total votes of 8,013 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Mahendra Prasad Pandeya of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,707 (25.01%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,496 (15.57) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Damyanti Thapa of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,816 (35.49%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Man Karki of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,686 (24.99%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,432 (15.33) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 112 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 63 (56.25%) males and 49 (43.75%) females. Moreover, there were total 21 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 42 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 20 females and 19 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
