In 2017 election of Tilagufa Municipality (Kalikot district), candidate Ratna Bahadur Shahi of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,851 (36.22%) votes out of total votes of 5,111 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Shankar Prasad Upadhyay of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 1,687 (24.23%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 1,573 (15.39) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Danta Nepali of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,843 (39.95%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Laxmi Shahi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,260 (19.52%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 1,510 (16.37) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 255 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 157 (61.57%) males and 98 (38.43%) females. Moreover, there were total 52 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 11 wards. Same as, total 101 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 48 females and 41 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
