In 2017 election of Thuli Bheri Municipality (Dolpa district), candidate Ganesh Bahadur Shahi of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,483 (51.93%) votes out of total votes of 2,856 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Swobarna Kumar Budha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 1,362 (31.39%) of votes. The rest of 1 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 11 (0.19) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Yogendra Bahadur Shahi of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) secured 1,324 (51.36%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Laxmi Chandra Karki of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,184 (30.34%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 70 (1.36) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 133 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 88 (66.17%) males and 45 (33.83%) females. Moreover, there were total 29 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 11 wards. Same as, total 55 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 27 females and 15 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
