In 2017 election of Thakre Rural Municipality (Dhading district), candidate Ram Kumar Acharya of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 8,234 (53.35%) votes out of total votes of 15,433 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Yantra Bahadur Thapa of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 6,690 (28.27%) of votes. The rest of 6 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 509 (1.65) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Ambika Rupakheti/ Paudel of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 8,322 (58.35%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Ram Kumar Lama of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 5,488 (24.30%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 452 (1.58) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 187 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 124 (66.31%) males and 63 (33.69%) females. Moreover, there were total 55 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 11 wards. Same as, total 61 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 30 females and 27 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
