In 2017 election of Thaha Municipality (Makwanpur district), candidate Labser Bista of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 9,091 (54.33%) votes out of total votes of 16,732 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Bishnu Prasad Dhakal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 6,549 (25.36%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 1,092 (3.26) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Khadga Bahadur Gopali of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 7,307 (47.68%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Kalpana Balami of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 6,745 (29.80%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 1,273 (4.15) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 263 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 164 (62.36%) males and 99 (37.64%) females. Moreover, there were total 59 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 12 wards. Same as, total 103 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 49 females and 42 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
