In 2017 election of Temal Rural Municipality (Kavrepalanchok district), candidate Salam Singh Tamang of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,949 (36.51%) votes out of total votes of 10,816 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Pradip Kumar Lama of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 3,359 (22.75%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 3,508 (16.22) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Durga Maya Tamang of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,784 (35.36%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Usha Tamang of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,389 (23.40%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 3,527 (16.48) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 182 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 114 (62.64%) males and 68 (37.36%) females. Moreover, there were total 42 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 69 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 37 females and 23 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
