In 2017 election of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality (Okhaldhunga district), candidate Rudra Prasad Adhikari of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,702 (45.91%) votes out of total votes of 8,064 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Gyan Bahadur Khadka of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 3,397 (28.87%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 965 (5.98) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Durga Kumari Tamang of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,485 (43.96%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Muna Shrestha of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,909 (25.49%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,533 (9.67) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 161 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 96 (59.63%) males and 65 (40.37%) females. Moreover, there were total 32 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 10 wards. Same as, total 63 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 30 females and 29 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
