In 2017 election of Sinja Rural Municipality (Jumla district), candidate Dewal Singh Rawal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,430 (28.79%) votes out of total votes of 4,967 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Purna Prasad Dhital of Nepal Majdoor Kissan Party (NMKP) who secured 1,203 (18.81%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,334 (23.50) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Janma Kanya Khatri of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,509 (31.96%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Rajankala Shahi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,165 (18.70%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,048 (21.69) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 130 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 79 (60.77%) males and 51 (39.23%) females. Moreover, there were total 25 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 51 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 25 females and 18 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
