In 2017 election of Sigas Rural Municipality (Baitadi district), candidate Hari Singh Dhami of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,332 (33.51%) votes out of total votes of 6,959 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Ram Singh Saund of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) who secured 1,473 (15.85%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 3,154 (22.66) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Dropati Chand of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,855 (30.21%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Bhrikuti Devi Chand of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,455 (18.20%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,830 (23.05) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 180 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 115 (63.89%) males and 65 (36.11%) females. Moreover, there were total 40 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 67 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 29 females and 31 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
