In 2017 election of Samsi Rural Municipality (Mahottari district), candidate Shesh Faruk of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,338 (23.46%) votes out of total votes of 9,964 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Ram Nath Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) who secured 2,244 (18.24%) of votes. The rest of 14 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 5,382 (27.01) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Nagina Devi Yadav of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,234 (23.17%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Sunita Devi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,609 (13.55%) of votes and came in second position. Other 7 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 5,799 (30.07) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 259 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 156 (60.23%) males and 103 (39.77%) females. Moreover, there were total 53 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 92 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 46 females and 43 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
