In 2017 election of Salpasilichho Rural Municipality (Bhojpur district), candidate Mahesh Rai of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,674 (37.07%) votes out of total votes of 4,516 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Khagendra Kumar Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 1,611 (26.03%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,231 (13.63) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Dhan Maya Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,473 (35.89%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Bir Kumar Rai of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 1,283 (23.01%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,348 (16.42) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 112 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 64 (57.14%) males and 48 (42.86%) females. Moreover, there were total 23 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 39 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 20 females and 21 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
