In 2017 election of Sakhuwanankarkatti Rural Municipality (Siraha district), candidate Kedar Nath Yadav of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,155 (40.25%) votes out of total votes of 7,839 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Ram Narayan Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) who secured 2,267 (20.62%) of votes. The rest of 8 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,417 (15.42) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Amala Devi Yadav of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,937 (37.70%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Shobha Kumari Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 2,329 (21.71%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,524 (16.20) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 142 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 86 (60.56%) males and 56 (39.44%) females. Moreover, there were total 27 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 51 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 23 females and 25 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
