In 2017 election of Rupa Rural Municipality (Kaski district), candidate Nawaraj Ojha of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,212 (52.95%) votes out of total votes of 7,954 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Prakash Mohan Khanal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,305 (27.17%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 437 (2.75) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Lal Suba Gurung of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,995 (50.42%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Gi Maya Gurung of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,456 (29.00%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 472 (2.98) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 112 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 65 (58.04%) males and 47 (41.96%) females. Moreover, there were total 23 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 40 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 21 females and 17 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
