In 2017 election of Rolpa Municipality (Rolpa district), candidate Purna K.c of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 5,634 (56.26%) votes out of total votes of 10,015 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Lekhnath Acharya of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,827 (24.46%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 554 (2.77) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Man Kumari Gharti Magar of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 5,686 (56.53%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Mishri Kumari Hamal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,721 (23.63%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 652 (3.24) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 164 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 95 (57.93%) males and 69 (42.07%) females. Moreover, there were total 34 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 10 wards. Same as, total 61 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 30 females and 28 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
