In 2017 election of Rishing Rural Municipality (Tanahun district), candidate Rajendra Krishna Shrestha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,941 (59.93%) votes out of total votes of 8,244 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Bhupal Singh Thapa of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,489 (18.88%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 814 (4.94) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Ginu Maya Thapa of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,996 (60.61%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Madhu Maya Shrestha of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,377 (17.95%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 870 (5.28) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 121 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 70 (57.85%) males and 51 (42.15%) females. Moreover, there were total 26 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 43 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 23 females and 21 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
