In 2017 election of Ramnagar Rural Municipality (Sarlahi district), candidate Krishna Prasad Barma of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,983 (44.28%) votes out of total votes of 8,995 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Babulal Raya Yadav of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 3,316 (25.55%) of votes. The rest of 9 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,696 (9.43) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Nitu Devi Yadav of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,957 (43.87%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Geeta Devi of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,425 (26.39%) of votes and came in second position. Other 7 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,637 (9.08) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 161 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 97 (60.25%) males and 64 (39.75%) females. Moreover, there were total 39 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 49 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 28 females and 25 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
