In 2017 election of Ramgram Municipality (Nawalparasi_W district), candidate Narendra Kumar Gupta of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 5,856 (32.07%) votes out of total votes of 18,262 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Uma Shankar Chaudhary of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 4,530 (18.78%) of votes. The rest of 8 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 7,876 (21.56) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Rambha Kunwar of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 6,589 (37.94%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Uma Devi Yadav of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,061 (16.95%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 6,715 (19.33) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 463 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 278 (60.04%) males and 184 (39.74%) females. Moreover, there were total 107 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 18 wards. Same as, total 171 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 86 females and 82 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
