In 2017 election of Ramechhap Municipality (Ramechhap district), candidate Nar Bahadur Thapa Magar of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,401 (36.94%) votes out of total votes of 11,914 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Roshan Pakhrin of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 4,300 (26.36%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 3,213 (13.48) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Srijana Khadka of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,393 (37.34%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Shanta Devi Paudel of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,994 (24.72%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 3,379 (14.36) of votes.

Moreover, there were total 39 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 67 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 32 females and 30 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
