In 2017 election of Rajdevi Municipality (Rautahat district), candidate Dhirendra Kumar Singh of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,780 (27.76%) votes out of total votes of 10,015 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Bhikhari Prasad Yadav of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,603 (20.34%) of votes. The rest of 12 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 4,632 (23.13) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Anshu Singh of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 3,857 (39.31%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Rajkali Devi Koiri of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,045 (14.96%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 3,910 (19.92) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 266 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 174 (65.41%) males and 92 (34.59%) females. Moreover, there were total 62 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 98 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 43 females and 42 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
