Pokhariya is a Municipality, which is located in Parsa district, Province No. 2 of Nepal. Pokhariya has total 10 wards, which are scattered across 32 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Pokhariya Municipality had total population of 32,885.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Pokhariya Municipality had total 32,885 population with 16,859 males and 16,026 females. Out of total wards, ward number 9 had the largest population 6,046, while ward number 5 had least number of population with 6,046.
With respect to number of households, Pokhariya Municipality had total 4,875 households. The ward number 9 had most households with total 870, while ward number 5 had least number of households with total 284 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 1.05, which indicates that Pokhariya Municipality had -5 percent lower males as compared to the females. In terms of age, the largest population in Pokhariya Municipality were between 5 and 9 years of age with total 5,011. Gender wise, there were 2,523 males and 2,488 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was above 75 with total 262 population, which consistes of 151 males and 111 females. There were 54.82 % (18,028 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 40.23 % with total number of 13,229. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.95 % with total number of 1,628. There were only 13,078 people fully literate in Pokhariya Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 913 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 7,246 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Pokhariya Municipality, total 4,052 males and 3,194 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 7,139 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 3,337 male and 3,802 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 1.27 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.88.The CBS census also states that 139 males and 160 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.
Grade 1-12 Students & Schools
According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 9,635 in Pokhariya Municipality with 4,708 (48.86%) of males and 4,927 (51.14%) females. There were total 28 schools. In average, 344 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Pokhariya is Bhojpuri, which is spoken by 31,530 people. The Pokhariya has people who speak other languages, such as Maithili, Nepali, Santhali, Rai, etc.

There were as little as Natuwa caste with population of as little as 12 in total. Out of total population of 32,885, there were total 388 (1.18%) disabled persons in Pokhariya Municipality with 235 (60.57%) males and 153 (39.43%) females. The physically disabled persons were 157, while mentally disabled people were 23 and intellectually disabled were 2.
Similarly, there were 93 people who were blind and 31 people were deaf, while 6 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 51 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 25 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation
Out of total 4875 households in Pokhariya Municipality, there were 180 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 909 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 35 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 3,716houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 174 houses were mud bonded, 885 houses were cement bonded, 85 houses were wood planks bonded, 3,672 houses were bamboo bonded and 17 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,338 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 25 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 2,876 houses had roof of tile, 574 houses had RCC roofs, 21 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. out of 4,875 households in Pokhariya Municipality, 420 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 4,368 households reported of using at least one facility. Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 914 establishments in Pokhariya Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 2,086 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,867 and female engagement of 219 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.28 people engaged with average males are 2.04 and females are 0.24. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 8.53, which means as many as 8.53 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 89.50 percent while the females are 10.50 percent.
