In 2017 election of Phalewas Municipality (Parbat district), candidate Padampani Sharma of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 6,103 (48.94%) votes out of total votes of 12,470 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Gangadhar Tiwari of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 5,755 (30.99%) of votes. The rest of 8 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 612 (2.45) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Manju Adhikari Pyashi of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 5,954 (47.95%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Rekha Gurung of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 5,649 (30.75%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 815 (3.28) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 192 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 113 (58.85%) males and 79 (41.15%) females. Moreover, there were total 39 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 11 wards. Same as, total 71 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 35 females and 32 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
