In 2017 election of Pauwadungma Rural Municipality (Bhojpur district), candidate Kiran Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,963 (37.40%) votes out of total votes of 5,249 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Nagendra Bahadur Bhujel of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 1,834 (25.43%) of votes. The rest of 1 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,452 (13.83) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Samjhana Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,860 (35.71%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Jyotsana Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,834 (25.94%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,515 (14.54) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 100 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 59 (59.00%) males and 41 (41.00%) females. Moreover, there were total 20 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 37 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 18 females and 18 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
