In 2017 election of Panchadewal Binayak Municipality (Achham district), candidate Dev Raj Devkota of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,555 (38.96%) votes out of total votes of 9,124 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Nanda Bahadur Kadayet of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 3,075 (24.25%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 2,494 (13.67) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Ambika Kumari Chalaune of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,960 (43.65%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Laxmi Kumari Bogati of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,212 (24.65%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 1,901 (10.48) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 151 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 89 (58.94%) males and 62 (41.06%) females. Moreover, there were total 30 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 58 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 28 females and 26 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
